Married Couple Wins 'Amazing Race 5' After a lengthy journey that spread across the summer and spanned the globe from Los Angeles to Russia to Egypt and to countless places in between, "The Amazing Race 5" reached its conclusion on Tuesday (Sept. 21) night. The married team of Chip and Kim reached the final pit stop in Dallas ahead of runners-up Colin and Christie and won a million dollar prize. The two-hour finale took the remaining teams from the Philippines to Calgary before reaching the Lone Star State. Bowling Moms Linda and Karen were the first team eliminated on Tuesday, after Karen tired during a climbing challenge. It ended up being a tight battle, considering that Colin and Christie began the evening without any money having only survived last week's episode because it was a non-elimination round. The frequently combative couple also had to overcome not knowing the design of the flag of the Philippines. Third place went to dating models Brandon and Nicole, who stated on countless occasions that they would only win if that was part of the Lord's plan. Chip and Kim McAllister of Coto de Caza, Ca. earned many fans over the course of the race for their boundlessly enthusiastic attitude toward the game and for their willingness to help other teams. However, their decision to use the all-powerful Yield last week earned the duo some animosity in the final episode, as did a relatively ineffective lie told to Brandon and Nicole. Despite a hefty amount of trash talk during the episode, Colin found it in his heart to knowledge to the camera that Chip, 46, and Kim, 42, were worthy victors. In addition to Chip and Kim, this season's breakout stars were probably cousins Charla and Mirna, who have already parlayed their plucky performance into talk show appearances and a visit to FOX's "MADtv." The winner of two consecutive Emmys for reality programming, "The Amazing Race" only became a mainstream popular success this season. This past week, "Amazing Race" was the No. 21 show on television with a 7.0 rating/12 share. Originally scheduled to air on Saturdays this fall, "Amazing Race 6" has been delayed until CBS can find the show a more conducive home.
